Binding death benefit nomination - cascading - individual

Binding death benefit nomination - cascading - individual

Product type:   Standard template | no legal review or advice

This flexible template revokes all previous SMSF Death Benefit Nominations (if any) whether binding or non-binding and allows an individual Member to nominate successive cascading alternative beneficiaries.

It may be used to:

  • Nominate a spouse to receive a pension on the Member's death
  • if the spouse does not survive the Member, then the children can be nominated to receive the super in equal shares as a lump sum; and
  • if none of the children survive, then the estate can be nominated to receive the death benefit to be dealt with under the Will.

The form is partially pre-filled with fund and member details.  Beneficiary and other details must be entered manually after downloading the document.

This type of death benefit nomination is flexible and caters for different standard situations.  However, when strategic integration with the Members estate plan is required, or in the event of possible complexity, such as blended family requirements for example,  then a specifically tailored BDBN based on the Members specific situation should be used.        For further advice and information as to how we can assist, please make an enquiry.

This Death Benefit Nomination only relates to Self Managed Super Funds (SMSFs) and can be used by both individual and corporate trustees.

For superannuation funds governed by non-SUPERCentral or non-Townsends Lawyers Governing Rules, please review the applicable trust deed and governing rules to determine if the template is suitable for the Superannuation Fund.
