SUPERCentral Audit Again Reveals SMSF Changes
Each two months SUPERCentral’s legal advisors conduct an audit of all the laws, regulations, cases and government announcements that could affect self-managed superannuation in Australia. The audit never ceases to throw up developments in the governance of superannuation that our member funds need to be competent to handle.
The recent audit revealed a number of developments that will require super funds to review their deeds: new legislation relating to First Home Saver Accounts and same sex relationships and two significant case decisions affecting the character of death benefits and the affect of bankruptcy on a member’s benefits.
No doubt Senator Nick Sherry’s review of governance in superannuation, including self-managed super, will shortly be released and will almost certainly require further changes to super deeds also.
If your fund or your clients funds are members of SUPERCentral you don’t have to worry about researching these developments and all of the hassles of updating to deal with the issues they raise – SUPERCentral does it all for you.
