SMSF Sector Now Largest Super Sector

APRA figures for the year ended 30 June 2008 (the most recently release figures) indicate that the largest super sector (by asset value) is the SMSF sector.

As at 30 June 2008 total SMSF assets were $358b compared to Retail Funds sector assets at $343b and the Industry Fund sector assets at $197b.

Clearly SMSFs – which offer far greater control and flexibility than Retail and Industry Funds  -  are the preferred solution for many super investors.
