NSW Stamp Duty Changes

In the 2012 State Budget, the NSW Government has deferred the abolition of mortgage duty for 12 months.

Previously, mortgage duty was to be abolished from 1 July 2012.  Now mortgage duty will be abolished from 1 July 2013.

The abolition of marketable securities duty on unquoted marketable securities has also been deferred from 1 July 2012 to 1 July 2013.

Similarly, the abolition of transfer duty on non-land business assets has been deferred from 1 July 2012 to 1 July 2013.
