New Penalties for SMSFs

Expanded administrative penalties now apply to SMSFs for:

• failing to lodge returns on time
• providing false or misleading statements
• failing to keep and retain records
• failing to advise of a change in trustee or other changes to the fund.

Administrative fines of up to $2,200 can now be imposed for each contravention.
