Latest APRA Super Statistics – September Quarter 2011

Total super assets deceased in the September Quarter 2011 by almost 3.8%.  Total super assets were $1.327 trillion at June 2011 and reduced to $1.277 trillion at 30 September 2011, a drop of $50 billion.  The magnitude of the decrease in super capital is to a certain hidden by net contribution inflows to super during the September 2011 quarter.

However, in the 12 months ending 30 September 2011, total super increased by $25 billion from $1,252 trillion to $1,277 trillion.

The drop in super assets for SMSFs over the September 2011 quarter was about 3.5%.  By comparison, the drop in super assets in Industry funds over the same period was 3.2%.  For retail funds the corresponding figure was 4.8%.

This information is based upon APRA’s estimate of total super assets.  Figures have been rounded to the nearest billion.  Percentages have also been rounded.
