Correction: Pausing of the Centrelink eligibility income and asset levels

In the Budget 2014 edition of SUPERCentral News, we stated that this 3 year pause will apply from 1 July 2014 for both non-pension payments as well as for pension payments.  This was not correct.

In relation to non-pension payments (eg Family Tax Benefit, Child Care Benefit, Child Care Rebate, Newstart Allowance, Parenting Payments and Youth Allowances) the pause in the eligibility thresholds will commence from 1 July 2014.

In relation to pension payments (eg Aged Pension, Carer Payments, Disability Support Pension and Veterans’ Pension) the pause in the eligibility thresholds will commence from 1 July 2017.

The implementation of both pauses will depend on the Government being able to shepherd the necessary amendment legislation through the Senate.
