ATO to Check and Improve its SMSF Database

The ATO has announced an initiative to improve the integrity of SMSF trustee and member details.  Presumably the ATO will be seeking to correct its trustee and member records by directly contacting SMSF trustees.

Additionally, the ATO may be issuing to selected trustees, a trustee education letter and information pack which includes publications relating to the role and responsibilities of an SMSF trustee.

The commencement date for this initiative is not yet known.
