Concessional Contribution Cap for 2009/10

$55,000  (previously $50,000)

Non-concessional Contributions Cap for 2009/10

$165,000 (previously $150,000)

(Non-concessional contributions cap is set as 3 times the concessional contributions cap)

Three year “bring forward” of Non-concessional Contributions Cap for 2009/10

$495,000  (previously $450,000)

(The “bring forward” cap is set as 3 times the non-concessional contributions cap and only applies if the super investor is aged 64 or less at any time during the financial year in which the “bring forward” is triggered.)

CGT Contributions Cap for 2009/10

$1.1m   (previously $1.045m)

(This cap is a lifetime cap and not an annual cap)

Low tax rate Cap

$150,000   (previously $145,000)

(This cap applies to superannuation lump sum benefits received after attaining preservation age and before attaining age 60.  The first $150,000 of superannuation lump sum benefits received is taxed at a nil rate, while the balance over $150,000 is taxed at 16.5%.  Higher rates will apply if the superannuation lump sum contains untaxed elements. This is a lifetime cap).
